Legacy Sharing (www.legacysharing.com) was founded by a small group of friends and family who wanted a way to pass memories along to children and grandchildren. They realized that they were filling their computers with digital photos with no connecting stories to make them meaningful to others. They wanted to combine their photos with audio and video recordings to create a richer story of their family experiences. LegacySharing.com is the result of this quest for an easy way to share memories with family and friends.

This project involved a complex combination of technologies requiring design, programming, database and flash expertise. We built the site on a basic LAMP framework on a dedicated server. To the basic framework, we added a Red5 server for streaming media, FFMPEG and a commercial component for online file conversion, a SimpleMachines user forum, and a number of custom-written flash components. We embedded both javascript and AJAX to provide a seamless user experience in many parts of the site.

The site was built into our own custom CMS to provide for easy changes to website pages.

In addition to the public face of the site, we created an Administrative console to allow our clients to manage content pages, members, FAQs etc.
